  This place is great! Compared to others I have been to, this is more established with kitchen utensils, spices, etc. Nice touch with the hot tub having a fold down wall so one can view the ocean while tubbing as well. The living area is upstairs and the bedrooms downstairs. The bathrooms are both downstairs which can be a little inconvient but what the hey. I recommend this place and the price makes it a deal.

  This was my second or third stay at Moonshadow. I enjoy this property and it's wonderful view and ammenities. It is unusual in that the main living area (living room, kitchen, dining, and wonderful deck) are upstairs. This allows the visitor to see the spectacular view at all times. I/we have enjoyed the size of the home as well, which makes it a cozy environment. The home must be one of the older homes at Sea Ranch, but it has been kept up very nicely. I would recommend this home to my friends and would happily enjoy another visit to Moonshadow sometime in the future. Enjoy!

  We loved the house. It feels like a cozy cabin, very warm and intimate. It is nicely furnished and the location is great. It was very clean and everything works fine. The only thing we'd change is the chairs in the living room aren't so comfy esp. if you are not tall. All in all it was great! We had a wonderful relaxing stay. glad they take doggies. We made sure ours was extremely well behaved (she always is really)so they will continue to accept them.

  Second time staying at the vacation home rental, Moonshadow, through Sea Ranch Escapes was just as memorable as the first time five years before. One of the best features is that the main living area is the open layout of the entire second floor extending to an outside deck. From the kitchen to the window seat, everyone upstairs is included in the socializing. The sleeping and bathing areas are on the ground floor which is unique and nice. The house is set back in a meadow along the coastline giving the view from the deck a beaurtiful broad look of the bluffs, surf and horizon.
  A couple of things to know for staying in Sea Ranch vacation homes: Bring a flashlight to help you find your way around the outside of the house at night; from parking the car or curbing the dog, it's darker than you'd expect it to be. Always check for ticks on your bodies, clothing and dogs. At Moonshadow, a steep, steel, circular staircase is what takes you upstairs to the kitchen, dining and living areas so keep in mind how often and physical it will be to mobilize between the two floors, especially when needing to go to the water closet.

  My partner and I have rented Moonshadow now for four or five consecutive summers and each time it continues to enchant and charm us. This year the discovery was the pool which was a mere five minute's walk from Moonshadow. Such a great benefit! The rental staff is always helpful yet unobtrusive.

  We especially loved the little upstairs balcony, where we could watch deer and whitewater at the same time. It was pleasant being so close to the the trails and the ocean, especially Olson Beach (the dogs loved it there!) Our older dog had a bit of trouble negotiating the spiral stairs, but otherwise all was well. Just a note to add: more smaller kindling would have been helpful.

  Moonshadow is an awesome little home for two couples with a reverse floor plan, a great hot tub with an ocean view, two comfy bedrooms and baths, and a super little deck off the upstairs living room, also with an ocean view. It is doggie friendly and near a perfect beach for dogs to romp on. The new harbor seal pups, nearby in the other direction, made this stay special. We always enjoy being tucked a bit back into the trees. This not only gets us out of the wind, but it gives us a better view of the birds and the deer in the meadow. These homeowners might want to upgrade their supply of foil, baggies, paper towels and cleaning would make the stay a little less hectic. Otherwise it's perfect!

  We were in love with Moonshadows from the first moment! It is charming and comfortable and in a beautiful location... like being in a treehouse.. the views are wonderful!! My son and daughter-in-law were visiting from Japan, and soaking in the hot tub every night made them feel right at home. We cooked several meals and found the equipment and supplies to be excellent. The weather wasn't great, so we didn't get to enjoy the deck and yard, but plan a return trip sometime this Summer! Thanks to the owners for making such a lovely retreat!

  Moon Shadow is a very popular vacation home and for good reason. It has beautiful views. It is a cozy, homey place. The owners take good care of their little gem and have upgraded the amenities over the years--the new hot tub is a welcome improvement. Lastly, they are kind enough to allow us to share their home with our dog who loves visiting Sea Ranch and Moon Shadow.

  There are far grander houses in The Sea Ranch with all the modern amenities one could possibly wish for but Moonshadow is the home my wife and I and our well mannered dog love the best. With it's window seats, comfortable furniture, old fashioned, "Franklin-type" wood burning stove, the exposed beams, and the warmth of wood it is the perfect romantic, cozy, get-away. The "blue water" views are great, as is its location in the meadow. We are planning an extended stay next year.

  great view from the hot tub of ocean and stars. the dog got over the windy staircase on the first try and spent lot's of time sunning herself on the 2nd floor deck. the little beach 2 minutes walk from the house is nice and sandy and deserted for the most part. plus it is a very do-able 3 mile hike from the house to the lodge

  Moonshadow is a uniquely designed and furnished property but not one that is too 'designed' or precious. It's close to other properties but because of the lots angled layout we enjoyed our privacy - even in the outdoor hot tub (which is also great).

  Being an older home, the heating is not sufficient if it turns really cold. Fortunately we had only a couple of really cold days during our 10 day stay. The view from the upper floor (kitchen, living room, etc.) and from the deck is fabulous.

  We stayed at Moonshadow for a week and captured the July full moon during our stay and sunny,clear and cool weather. This was our fifth trip to Sea Ranch and first at Moonshadow. Of all, it reflects the most warmth with its wood floors and smaller space. Having the bedrooms down and one open room with kitchen, dining and living rooms flowing together upstairs was very comfortable, but the great view and deck made the location. Just right for 1-4 people. We plan to stay there again when we return if available, and the good energy in the space stays with you when you leave.

  Overall, we had a very lovely stay at Moonshadow house. The property is beautiful, well-maintained, and very tranquil. We loved the layout of the house with the kitchen and living room upstairs and the bedrooms downstairs. We loved the location and the beautiful views of the water. This is the best house we've stayed at at the Sea Ranch, and we've stayed in many over the years. It is obvious that the owners care about and maintain the property well.
  
  One thing that was disappointing was having to deal with home repair issues during our time to relax and get away from that kind of thing. The dishwasher leaked through the ceiling into the bathroom downstairs. I contacted the rental company and the owner came by promptly to assess the situation. A handyman was sent out to repair the dishwasher. While he was there, he also started to repair the fence and drill noisily, which was unpleasant and disruptive. While we understand that sometimes maintenance issues arise and need to be addressed, it was disruptive to have to deal with this issue during our vacation. I was disappointed that the rental company did not offer us anything to compensate for this inconvenience when I expressed my concern upon check-out. Even a simple apology would have been appreciated.
  
  Another thing that could have been better on the part of the rental company: there were no spare plastic trash bags, so once we used the one left by the housekeepers, we had no bags.

  Not the fanciest-but the most warmth of all the houses we have rented & one I would return to. Notes for other renters. Most older homes do not provide good cookware. This is no exception. Take your own. This house allows dogs & mine loved it! But, the vacuum provided has a wheel that flies off during use & a canister that must be carried while in use. Difficult. Also, the free wireless did not work which made my husband cranky. All these things are fixable - and the property's location and view are well worth going back for.

  On the "plus" side, the view is wonderful...the garden is charming. The furnishings are comfortable and eclectic. It is a warm and inviting place to stay. The Jacuzzi is great.
  
  Some quibbles: the lighting in the living room is a bit too dim for reading.
  On warm days (which aren't all that frequent), the upstairs can be uncomfortably warm.

  We had to move as there was a major plumbing problem with flooding of the bathroom from the sink upstairs. We have loved this home but I wish the two worn leather chairs, the primary seats would be replaced with something more comfortable and ergonomic . The home is cozy warmly decorated and we have been there before . Moving out midway through our stay was a bit of a hassle but we were moved to an esquisite home that made the move fun and exciting

  We really enjoyed our stay. The house is small and cozy and was just right for the two of us and our dog and an occasional guest. We liked the easy access to the Bluff Trail. We thought the enclosed garden would be a place where we could keep the dog off leash, but the areas under the house are open and the dog was able to get under the house and out to the field, so that should be clarified for future renters. Also the house next door is really close and we could see the guests there grilling, hanging out on their deck and garden and in the hot tub. Fortunately there were not many guests there while we were there but when there were guests, there was very little privacy. The kitchen amenities were okay. They had good pots and pans but also many that were not great and I would recommend getting rid of some of the lesser quality ones since there are plenty of pans and this would create more room for food storage which there was none. Also, the hot tub jets were not that strong. Overall we really enjoyed our stay though I think we would probably look for another property when we return.
